Das sich in der Südstadt befindende Gründerzeithaus wurde im Jahr 1894 von Ferdinand Berneburg erbaut und bietet nicht nur einen Raum zum Zusammenkomme, sondern auch zahlreiche Möglichkeiten zur Umsetzung von Projekten. Passend dazu ist es eine der Locations für das #galeriefest11. Ab dem 11.05. könnt ihr hier die Arbeit ‘Failed Calendars‘ von Mahshid Mahboubifar sehen.

The Wilhelminian-style house in the southern part of the city was built in 1894 by Ferdinand Berneburg and offers not only a space to get together but also numerous possibilities for the realization of projects. Fittingly, it is one of the locations for #galeriefest11. From 11.05. you can see here the work 'Failed Calendars' by Mahshid Mahboubifar.

Failed Calendars

Mahshid Mahboubifar (*1991, Iran) studiert derzeit Expanded Cinema an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig bei Prof. Clemens von Wedemeyer und Mareike Bernien. Zuvor absolvierte sie einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Visueller Kommunikation in Teheran und ihren Master-Abschluss in Digitalen Medien an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen.

Durch Fotografie, Video und Installation schafft sie neue Formen aus vorhandenem und gefundenem Material. In ihrer Arbeit löst sich das Material nicht in der Form auf. Das Material behält seine Eigenschaften und bleibt wiedererkennbar. Die Form thematisiert den Prozess, den das Material durchlaufen hat, und zeigt die Spuren der Kräfte der Produktion auf einer formalen Ebene.

Mahshid Mahboubifar (*1991, Iran) is currently studying Expanded Cinema at the Leipzig Academy of

Visual Arts with Prof. Clemens von Wedemeyer and Mareike Bernien. Before that, she completed a

Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication in Tehran and her Master's degree in Digital Media at the

Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Through photography, video and installation, she creates new forms from existing and found material. In her work, the material does not disappear into the form. The material retains its properties and remains recognizable. The form addresses the process that the material has gone through and reveals the traces and forces of production on a formal level.
